Welcome to my world!

I have been told by people that I should start a blog about my new life, and when I say people I mean mostly my family. I thought this might be a good way to express whats going on in my life, and so I dont just have the baby and the dogs to talk to all day and seem like a crazy person... but my husband might beg to differ!

Difference between the city and country........

Sorry its been awhile life creeps up!

Why there are many differences between the city and the country. Some are very obvious, but you dont know the differences until you live in both places.

1. In the city when a stranger comes to your door you answer, and see what they want. If a stranger comes to your door they get greeted with a 12 gauge shotgun.

2. You work in the city you probably work a 9-5 job working 40 hours a week. When you live in the country even if you have a desk job you are up with the sun and dont stop until the sun goes down. Even if its over 100 degrees outside they dont stop working in the field they keep going.
- For example when I came home at 5 Kaleb was working on our fence in 109 degree weather.

3. when you drive down the road in the city you disrespect the other drives or pay no attention to them. In the country you wave to every single person that passes you by.

4. When you are stuck in a traffic jam in the city you honk your horn every second you get. While in the country you get stuck behind a combine you follow them until they turn.

5. Over all everything moves slower out in the country while life passes you by in the city.

If you dont believe me how hot it was today look

The country can smell sometimes!

So I was at home with my baby all day today minding my own business when a rank smell comes into the open windows. I know it can smell like manure out here (because we are sounded by cows), but this was different, it was like the smell of a dead carcass coming in from all nooks and crannys. So naturally I thought my dog had killed or found a dead cat/ roadkill and put it in my yard.  I jump to this conclusion because one of my first lessons out here was dogs LOVE dead things. Anyway I go outside and search like a mad women trying to find the source of the smell. As I was cursing my dog the whole time it took a few minutes for me to realize that the smell was coming from the garage.  now here come a back story....
I live in my in-laws old house which still contains some of there belongings. And no one told me that my husbands dad had a freezer full of meat that he wanted back( the freezer, not the meat). So i was right in that it was a dead animal thawing out in 94 degree weather :( lets just say mama isnt happy.
Does anyone know how to get this smell out of my house? I burned all my candles in the house but it didnt help much, any advise would be helpful!
Also in my frustration I ran a mile in this heat and it was horrible note to self dont run unless its under 85 and humidity less than 60.

Something like a Zoo

Yesterday we went to the Clay Center zoo with my new bother and sister in law with there child. It was Williams and mines first time going to the zoo in Clay Center and I was very excited. I am used to big zoo that make you walk miles and have 100's of animals to look at so naturally I was thinking that kind of zoo, but like normal I was wrong. The zoo only had about 15 cages of animals and some of them I see in my back yard every day. While they did have monkeys, bears, wolfs, and a bobcat they also had squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, and goats. To the kids they didnt care (which is all that mattered) and liked looking at the animals. It was a nice time walking around and spending family time. They had a nice park there and we learned that william loves to swing!!!

Diets are for the gullible

I have gained about 20 pounds after my son and am now determined to lose it! For those of you who dont know I am studying nutrition at Kansas State University and have decided to but my money where my mouth is. Healthy eating and an active lifestyle will be how i am going to get the body/ energy/ mind set that I want to achieve. I know that many people out there are like me and want to shed the weight but dont know how, but that is where I can come in! I am going to post my activity as well as a health tip every week (might be more than that) and hopefully get other people motivated to do the same!

Tip one: Diets DONT WORK get that into your head. You didnt gain weight in a week so you wont lose it in a week. You need to have a life style change. If you want to lose weight and keep it off ,eat right and live an active life. It wont only make you look better but feel better. You can ward off all types of diseases and illnesses and have a better quality of life. Diets can lead you feeling irritable, and tired, and you have a higher chance of getting sick. So here is to more vegetables and fewer cookies!

Wish me Luck post a comment of encouragement or if you have any questions on nutrition dont be afraid to ask!!!

From high heels to corn fields

This is my first post EVER and am some what excited.
First I would like to say that life in the country is quite yet satisfying. Never in a million years would I have thought I would become a farmers wife, but I am proud to say I am. Living in small town USA I have never met so many hard working people who actually enjoy a 15 hour day. Being around such positive people I have learned to enjoy the little thing, and not take life for granted. People from the city might look at my humble new life, and think they have so much to teach us poor unfortunate rednecks. But I feel that we have so much more to offer them in terms of life lessons. I couldnt be happier with the path I chose for my growing family and I. Living out here is not for everyone, and takes some getting used to, but to me its an adventure!
